Update: Originally, this 1997 Ducati 916 had leading bid of $10,250 USD placed. The bike was sold on March 27th for $16,416 USD.

Original Story: A mint condition 1997 Ducati 916 with one 10k miles, is currently up for auction via Bring A Trailer. This unique example is finished in Ducati's famous red colorway and has been previously listed on BaT in December 2024.

The original owner purchased this example in Ducati Red exterior– over bronze-finished trellis frame complemented with paint-matched front fenders, dual headlights, a smoked windscreen, fairing-mounted mirrors, black vinyl Monoposto seat, rear-set foot controls, a carbon-fiber rear hugger and heel guards, and a side stand—the seller notes that ceramic coating has been applied in 2024.

Additionally, this Ducati 916 rides Bronze-finished 17″ Brembo three-spoke alloy wheels, mounted with Continental ContiMotion tires— which also come with Showa 43mm inverted front forks and dual 320 mm Brembo braking components. For the rear, Öhlins Monoshock is mounted to the single-sided swing arm and 220mm two-piston calipers at the rear. It is worth noting that under current ownership brake fluid has recently been serviced in 2024.

Nest between the Massimo Tamburini-designed bodywork is a liquid-cooled four-stroke 916cc Desmodromic L-twin and Weber-Marelli electronic fuel injection paired with a six-speed transmission and a multi-plate dry clutch—initially rated at 109 horsepower and 90 lb-ft of torque when new. The Ducati 916 also features a Fast By Ferracci ECU tune and dual Arrow under-tail exhaust. Serviced performed on this bike in late 2024 includes changing the oil and coolant, sealing the fuel tank, and replacing the timing belts, tensioner, and idler pulley bearing in addition to air filter, fuel filter, water pump shaft seal, intake manifold gaskets, and spark plugs.

From the perspective of the rider, the clip-on handlebars feature replacement factory grips and are mounted below the upper triple clamp, which includes a spot for the piston-style steering damper. The motorcycle maintains its original instrumentation, which includes a speedometer that goes up to 180 mph, a tachometer with a 13,000 rpm range, a coolant temperature gauge, and various indicator lights.

At the time of writing, the ‘97 Ducati 916 shows roughly 10k miles on the odometer and has a leading bid of $10,250 USD placed, with one day left on Bring A Trailer.
