Tesla Issues Another Recall On Cybertruck—Over Stainless Steel Panels Falling Off
The recall, involving approximately 46,000 vehicles, is due to concerns that the stainless steel trim panels may detach while the trucks are in motion, affecting all Cybertrucks manufactured from November 2023 through February of this year.

Key Points on Tesla's Cybertruck Recall:
U.S. safety regulators announced a recall of nearly all Tesla Cybertrucks, marking the eighth recall since deliveries began over a year ago.
The recall impacts over 46,000 Cybertruck vehicles.
The issue is related to the cant rail assembly, an exterior panel along the sides of the windshield that can detach while driving, posing a risk of accidents.
Tesla will replace the problematic panels free of charge, using a more resilient adhesive that is less susceptible to environmental damage.
The recall covers all 2024 and 2025 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and February 27, 2025.
U.S. safety regulators announced on Thursday the recall of nearly all Tesla Cybertrucks currently on the road, marking the eighth recall of these vehicles since customer deliveries began just over a year ago. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is spearheading the recall, which affects over 46,000 units.
The NHTSA warned that an exterior component—the cant rail assembly—located along the left and right sides of the windshield could detach unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion, posing a serious risk to other drivers and potentially leading to crashes. This assembly, made of stainless steel and affixed to the truck using a structural adhesive, will be replaced by Tesla with an adhesive known to be more resilient against “environmental embrittlement,” as per the agency’s report.

The Cybertruck has had a tumultuous start, with multiple recalls in a short span, including a notable incident last September related to a rearview camera and other safety issues involving a defective inverter. Viral videos on social media featuring individuals forcefully removing the exterior panels have drawn considerable attention, raising alarm about the vehicle's design integrity.
Despite these challenges, which coincide with fierce competition from new electric vehicle brands, particularly from China, Tesla's stock has suffered significantly—plummeting 42% in 2025, demonstrating a drastic shift in investor sentiment.
