Watch To Watch: Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Re-creation of the 45GS Limited Edition – SLGW004 & SLGW005
A contemporary 10-beat movement complements a timeless 1960s design.

GRAND SEIKO
In 1968, Grand Seiko introduced the 45GS, following the iconic 44GS, which set the brand's design code, the Grand Seiko Style. The 45GS featured a significant upgrade in performance, level of precision, and accuracy along with the brand's first manual-winding high-beat movement, the Caliber 4520. To pay homage to these milestone timepieces, Grand Seiko has announced the release of two limited-edition 445GS re-creations set to debut next month.
The limited-edition 445GS re-creations pay tribute to the vintage elegance of the original 45GS watches that debuted in 1968, keeping dial colors and lettering virtually identical, while incorporating technical upgrades. Both watches are powered by the manual-winding 9SA4 caliber, which debuted earlier this year at Watches & Wonders Geneva – the 9SA4 operates at a frequency of 36,000 beats per hour and features a contemporary design incorporating Grand Seiko's Free-sprung balance, and the Dual-Impulse escapement, allowing Caliber 9SA4 to achieve a power reserve of 80 hours.
The first limited edition, the SLGW004 in yellow gold, is priced at $30,000 USD, and only 200 examples are available. The second limited edition, the SLGW005, is in stainless steel with an off-white dial and is limited to 1,300 pieces, priced at $9,700 USD.
Both limited edition watches will be available in November 2024, The SLGW004 will be available exclusively at Grand Seiko boutiques, while the SLGW005 will be available at Grand Seiko boutiques and select retail partners worldwide.
