ISSEY MIYAKE x NEW BALANCE

For the first time, luxury brand Issey Miyake and athletic brand New Balance have collaborated to create a sneaker blending sports leisure with luxury.

The reveal of the new sneaker took place during September of last year during Paris Fashion Week during the Issey Miyake runway show. The sneaker is called the “MT100”, a modern luxury spin on the Minimal Trail 10 sneaker released by New Balance in 2011.

The MT100 was designed to mimic the shape of a bare foot. When it was designed mobility and physicality were at the forefront. Due to this reductions were made in the height and bulk of the shoe to ensure that when the wearer wore the sneaker they didn’t feel as though there was a separation between their foot and the ground beneath them. The MT100 still carries elements of its trail-running spirit while maintaining a luxurious feel.

The Vibram backed outsole of the sneaker ensures the wearer feels the most comfortable while still being able to maintain their balance on the rugged terrain beneath them. The cord-like laces were added to the shoe to ensure the wearer’s foot securely stays in place as they move both in even and uneven terrain. The colorways that are set to be released for this sneaker are a monochromatic trio of colors in “White,” “Black” and “Blue Green”.
