Italian marque Lamborghini revealed the Urus SE, the company's new plug-in hybrid performance SUV model, which debuted at Volkswagen Group's Media Night before the public at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The Urus SE is one of the most technologically advanced SUVs in its category, boasting performance and efficiency aligning with Lamborghini's commitments to electrification and decarbonization – thanks to the added 189-hp electric motor matted to the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The SE model features a twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 612 hp, a 45-hp deduction versus a 657-hp non-hybrid model, for a combined 789 horsepower and 701 ib-ft of torque. This power plant ensures a claimed 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of nearly 200 mph, which makes the SE model 0.1 seconds faster than the standard Urus S but loses out to the Urus Performante's tested 3.0 second – 0 to 60 mph, making the SE model the fastest production car in its segment.
In April, during Lamborghini's United States debut at the Lamborghini Lounge NYC in Chelsea Arts District, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann said “The Urus SE epitomizes our brand's DNA and philosophy, excelling in both driving enjoyment and dynamic performance. SUVs are in high demand in the U.S. market, so as we continue down the path to electrification, it is vital that we provide our customers with a fun-to-drive hybrid that can also meet their everyday needs."
Inside the SUV, Lamborghini blends luxury and sportiness. The interior boasts a new 12.3-inch touchscreen display and innovative Human Machine Interface (HMI). On the exterior, the front facia receives a new hood, front grille, and a matrix LED headlights cluster inspired by the Lamborghini Revuelto. According to Lamborghini, a new spoiler and redesigned diffuser provide 35% more downforce than the standard Urus S, plus revised aerodynamics underneath the vehicle also improves cooling to the braking system. With over 100 paint options, further distinguishing the Urus SE from the Urus S and Urus Performante, Lamborghini has added two more color options for 2025: Arancio Egon (orange) and Blanco Sapphirus (white).
According to Lamborghini, the 2025 Urus SE is set to begin delivery at the end of 2024, with a retail price expected to start at $275,000 USD. Check out the new Lamborghini Urus SE in action in the video below.
