The 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship wrapped up with an exhilarating final round in Abu Dhabi, where Eli Tomac and Shane McElrath sealed their titles in the WSX and SX2 classes, respectively.
Eli Tomac, riding for CDR Yamaha Supported by Star Racing, showcased his dominance since the first event at the WSX Canadian GP in Vancouver. Tomac's performance on the championship's concluding night was nothing short of spectacular. Starting with a victory in the SuperPole, he maintained his momentum in the GP races with finishes that safeguarded his title defense. After a night of tactical racing, he clinched second overall for the night but secured the championship by a solid 43-point margin ahead of Roczen, who fought valiantly to regain points but ultimately fell short.
Becoming World Supercross Champion is an incredible feeling and a testament to our team’s hard work. We started strong with dominant wins and capped it off with a victory in Abu Dhabi, despite the challenges of a tight track. It’s been amazing competing against top riders from around the world, and I’m so proud to end the WSX season on the top step.

In the 250cc class, Shane McElrath of Fire Power Honda reclaimed his crown with a masterful performance. Entering the final round with a clear path to victory, McElrath set the tone right from the SuperPole, clocking one of the fastest laps of the night. He continued that momentum into the GP races, where he executed a clean sweep of wins—achieving two wins that were sufficient to confirm his championship status. His incredible run throughout the season, which included thirteen victories out of sixteen races, demonstrated why he was the formidable competitor that he is.
Winning the championship overall is an incredible feeling, a testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Joining this team was a leap of faith, but it’s built lifelong bonds, and I’m thrilled for everyone on the team. Tonight was all about execution—staying clean early and setting the tone for the race. I pulled key holeshots, scored maximum points, and made history as the only SX2 rider to do so this year. This season was a strong restart for WSX, and the vision for the future excites me as we look ahead to next season—this is what we’re here for.
