Tesla, was the dominant manufacturer in the EV segment, thanks to the brand's Standard Model S. The Model S offers one of the longest ranges available of any luxury electric vehicle, with an estimated range of 402 miles, only 114 miles shorter than the now leading, 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring—currently holding the records with an estimated 516 miles. Priced at $74,990 USD, The Standard Model S produced 670 hp and 723 ib-ft, thanks to its dual-motor setup, and sold an estimated 26,700 units in 2023.
However, with increased depreciation on EVs rather than gas-powered cars – due to multiple factors, the most obvious, being the battery life and its unpredictable performance in cold weather. Buyers interested in purchasing luxury EV sedans are now looking to the used market for bargain deals. One model, in particular, is Audi's E-Tron GT, with a starting price of $106,395 for the 2023 model year and a total of 3,202 units sold in the U.S. (up 41%) from 2022—is now on the used market with an asking price between $50k - $65k. However, entering 2025, potential buyers are left debating whether to buy something new like the 2025 Mercedes AMG EQS or turn to the used market for options like the 2023 E-Tron GT.
