MONOCHROME WATCHES

Iconic watch brand, OMEGA, re-released its Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” Apollo 8 timepiece. In 2018, this timepiece was first unveiled to the public and served as a commemorative release for the OMEGA brand’s 50th anniversary, this particular timepiece also serves as an homage to its involvement in the Apollo 8 space mission in the year 1968.

This time around, Omega goes beyond creating an exact replica of the original Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 watch. This latest facelift elevates the iconic status of the timepiece with additional refinement and attention to detail that enhances the timepiece’s unique charm. On the partially skeletonized dial of the timepiece, the movement is presented in a lunar surface, which is supposed to represent the view from Earth’s perspective. Meanwhile, the caseback of the timepiece offers a closer look at the timepiece “Calibre 3869”.

Just like in the previous model, the new reference also arrives in a complete black ceramic build. Various textures and details were also added to increase the unique nature of the timepiece’s dial. Some details include the Grand Feu enameling on the tachymeter scale and the second hand that emulates the look of NASA’s Saturn V rocket. The updated Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 (Ref: 310.92.44.50.01.001) retails for $14,300 USD. Visit your local OMEGA boutique or OMEGA’s official website to join the waiting list.
