As the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to grow, the appeal of luxury electric sedans has surged, particularly models like the Porsche Taycan, Tesla Model S, Lucid Air, Mercedes AMG EQS, and the BMW I7—were some of the best selling EVs of 2023.
Tesla, was the dominant manufacturer in the EV segment, thanks to the brand's Standard Model S. The Model S offers one of the longest ranges available of any luxury electric vehicle, with an estimated range of 402 miles, only 114 miles shorter than the now leading, 2024 Lucid Air Grand Touring—currently holding the records with an estimated 516 miles. Priced at $74,990 USD, The Standard Model S produced 670 hp and 723 ib-ft, thanks to its dual-motor setup, and sold an estimated 26,700 units in 2023.
However, with increased depreciation on EVs rather than gas-powered cars – due to multiple factors, the most obvious, being the battery life and its unpredictable performance in cold weather. Buyers interested in purchasing luxury EV sedans are now looking to the used market for bargain deals. One model, in particular, is Audi's E-Tron GT, with a starting price of $106,395 for the 2023 model year and a total of 3,202 units sold in the U.S. (up 41%) from 2022—is now on the used market with an asking price between $50k - $65k. However, entering 2025, potential buyers are left debating whether to buy something new like the 2025 Mercedes AMG EQS or turn to the used market for options like the 2023 E-Tron GT.

Back in November 2020, Audi unveiled images of the production version of the e-tron GT, which featured a distinctive color palette of black and gray with striking accents and overlays on the alloy wheels. The final design closely mirrors that of the concept vehicle, internally released in 2018, highlighting robust wheel arches, sharply designed headlights, and an imitation large-hexagonal grille. Additionally, the sleek roofline culminates in a seamless set of taillights connected by an illuminated strip. A notable distinction from the concept model is the incorporation of visible door handles in the production variant—along with technology and performance features shared with the sporty Porsche Taycan, offering impressive performance and premium design.

This level of luxury performance is enticing for driving enthusiasts and those who appreciate the thrill of a powerful electric motor, with the potential to be a daily driver. However, despite its many admirable qualities, the E-Tron GT does have some drawbacks—most notably, its range. With a maximum of 232 miles, it falls short compared to competitors like the Tesla Model S and Mercedes-Benz EQS, which offer superior range. Potential buyers need to consider whether the driving range meets their daily needs or if they’d be better served by an alternative model. Even with rapid 800-volt charging capabilities that facilitate quick top-ups, range anxiety can be a significant factor depending on how often and where you drive

Now, let’s delve into the core question: is a used 2023 Audi E-Tron GT a bargain in 2025? The answer largely depends on individual buyer priorities. If you value exhilarating driving dynamics, luxury finishes, and an engaging driving experience, you could see significant value in this high-performance vehicle, especially if you find a well-maintained used model at a competitive price. On the flip side, if you’re seeking a competitive range, cutting-edge tech, or lower ownership costs, you might consider alternatives. As EVs continue to gain traction, the market is evolving, presenting buyers with new options regularly. The depreciation of vehicles like the E-Tron GT may make them more financially accessible in 2025, positioning a used model as a practical alternative to its newer counterparts—especially if you're ready to navigate the nuances of EV ownership.
Ultimately, purchasing a used Audi E-Tron GT as a bargain buy in 2025 rests on personal preferences and lifestyle requirements. For those who appreciate the blend of luxury and performance that Audi delivers, investing in the E-Tron GT could be a rewarding experience. However, it's essential to weigh its limitations alongside your needs to determine if this high-performance EV aligns with your automotive aspirations.
