Dyson has unveiled its first-ever audio-only headphones, the OnTrac, following the success of its hybrid headphones-meets-air-purifier product, the Dyson Zone, released in 2023. The OnTrac is a significant departure from the Dyson Zone, focusing solely on delivering exceptional sound quality and introducing enhancements such as extended battery life, improved noise cancellation, and customizable options.

One of the standout features of the OnTrac is its active noise-canceling (ANC) technology, which is described by Dyson as "best-in-class." The headphones are equipped with eight onboard microphones that sample external sound at an impressive rate of 384,000 times per second. This data is processed by a new custom-built ANC algorithm, effectively canceling up to 40dB of unwanted noise. Additionally, the MyDyson app allows users to monitor their noise exposure levels, promoting healthy listening habits.

The OnTrac boasts a remarkable battery life of 55 hours with ANC activated, rivaling some of the best devices in the market. Unlike traditional wireless headphones, the batteries are housed in the headband, contributing to a sleek and comfortable design. Furthermore, Dyson offers a unique customization option, allowing users to choose from over 2,000 color combinations for the caps and ear cushions, providing a personalized touch to the headphones.

Dyson's foray into the headphone market represents a deliberate strategic move to establish itself as a reputable player in the audio industry, leveraging its expertise in acoustics and noise reduction developed over the past three decades. This bold step positions Dyson to compete with established headphone brands like Apple, Sony, and Bose, signaling the brand's commitment to delivering audio excellence.

Dyson's OnTrac wireless headphones are launching soon, priced at $499 USD. Additionally, replacement caps and ear cushions will be available starting at $49 USD.
