How To Roll A Perfect Joint In 8 Easy Steps
Words by FP Team
"Next to making a proper omelet or wiping your own ass, rolling a joint is an essential life skill for any self-respecting member of society"
- Anthony Bourdain
Everyone has to start somewhere. Stephen Curry didn't become the NBA's all-time leader in three-point field goals without practice. Those who are good at rolling a joint had to practice to master the art of rolling a good joint. Being frustrated with bad rolling attempts will never help, instead believe in yourself and keep trying. With the right tools and guidance, you'll achieve your goal quickly. While there are many ways to roll a joint as there are weed strains, the most iconic and timeless method has to be the “Classic Joint”.
What You’ll Need
Cannabis (Your Favorite Strain)
Rolling Paper
Grinder
Filter (Optional)
Tamping Stick (or Pen)
Rolling Tray (Optional)
Instructions
Step 1:
Grind your herb so it has a uniform consistency similar to oregano. Grinding cannabis down to this consistency offers an even and smooth burn. Be sure to throw stems, you don't want stems to rip your paper.
Step 2
Pull out a new sheet of rolling paper. Make sure the glue edge is facing upwards and is flat. If the glue edge is bent or damaged, don't be afraid to throw out one or two sheets if the glue edge begins to curl up.
Step 3
Place the rolling paper flat on the rolling tray or a table.
Step 4
Place the filter at the edge of the rolling paper. Slowly pour out your herbs onto the paper as evenly as possible.
Step 5
Carefully pick up the paper and gently massage the herbs so it's even and packed down into a moderately firm cylindrical shape.
Step 6
Begin tucking the edge of the paper in that is closest to the filter. To keep the folded edge (closest to the filter) tight, pull on the opposite end of the paper.
Step 7
Tuck and roll little by little until you are at the top of the joint (open-end of the joint where cannabis is visible)
Step 8
Moisten the glue edge, seal up your joint, and reach for the lighter. You, my friend, have just rolled a classic joint.
