If you’re tech obsessive and identify as an auto enthusiast then chances are you’ve now heard about the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck. The production-spec electric pickup made its debut on Nov. 30, at an event at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas. The event was also live-streamed on X, originally known as Twitter.

The Cybertruck will retain its stainless steel body production. Musk claims the “exoskeleton” gives the Cybertruck more torsional stiffness than a McLaren P1. Musk also flaunted the “shatter-resistant glass”, when Tesla’s Designer Franz von Holzhausen threw a baseball at the window to showcase the shatter-resistant capability, with the baseball bouncing off, which spectacularly failed during the first attempt at the original launch event in 2019 when Mr. Holzhausen threw a metal ball at the window which smashed during the presentation. Tesla claimed that the Cybertruck glass can withstand a baseball thrown at 70 mph or a class 4 hail rating. In addition, a video was played showing the Cybertruck withstanding a high-powered arrow shot by Joe Rogan, as well as bullets from a Tommy gun.

The Cybertruck comes in three trims: RWD, AWD, and Cyberbeast. According to Tesla, the RWD will reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, with a claimed range of 250 miles. Reservation for the rear-wheel drive model is now available, customers could expect delivery of the RWD Cybertruck in 2025. The AWD produces 600 horsepower and will do 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 112 mph and be able to tow 11,000 pounds. Tesla claimed the range is 340 miles and a torque figure of 7,435 pounds.

The top trim is called the Cyberbeast and holds the fastest time out of all trims available with a 2.6 seconds 0-60 mph producing 845 hp. The top speed is increased to 130 mph while the range drops from 340 miles to 320 miles. That’s without the available “range extender,” a toolbox-sized battery, located in the front of the cargo bed against the back of the cab. With the extender, tesla claimed 440 miles of range.

Musk stated, “Deliveries begin now,” as the first Cybertruck’s drove out onto stage and were delivered to their owners. There are no visible door handles on the Cybertruck, the front door opens from a button on the B-pillar. Inside the Cybertruck, The driver is presented with an 18.5-inch central touchscreen which is supplemented by a second 9.4-inch screen for the rear passengers. The acoustic glass keeps the cabin “as quiet as outer space” Tesla claimed.

All Cybertruck models will come with warranties which Tesla listed during the launch. Tesla warranty covers four years or 50,000 miles, while the battery and drive unit will remain under warranty for eight years or 150,000 miles. This warranty only applies to the all-wheel drive and the Cyberbeast models, no details have been released for warranty on the rear-wheel drive models. The rear-wheel drive model starts at $60,990, with the all-wheel drive coming in at $79,990. The Cyberbeast tops off with a $99,990 base price.
