LEVIS x UNDERCOVER / CLARA BALZARY
One of the most important collaborations between the historic Levi’s brand and a legendary brand within the Japanese streetwear space, Undercover, linked up once again to release a nine-piece collection in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Undercover.
For this collaboration, the jeans were modeled by Flea, the bass guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who also posed for the campaign photos near his Malibu home. The photographs were taken by Flea’s daughter, Clara Balzary. The collection contains nine pieces and was released worldwide on Jan.18 in select Levi’s and Undercover locations, including both brand’s online stores.

The first collaboration between Levi’s and Undercover occurred in the fall of 1998. A reprisal of the partnership took place in the fall of 2022. For this collaboration, Jun Takahashi, Undercover’s founder and designer, draws influence from music subculture, art, and street fashion. The collection features embroidered patterned jeans, printed nail motifs, and added spiky zigzag stitching and eye prints to attract curious eyes to trucker jackets, jeans jackets, vests, five-pocket jeans, and cotton T-shirts within this collection.
The trucker jackets and jeans jackets come with sharper shoulders, and zip-off details, allowing the wearer to customize their look. Some items in the collection have a small red “Small Parts” label sewn into the neckline, a nod towards the original 1998 collaboration between the two brands.
