AlphaTheta, a subsidiary brand of Pioneer DJ, has introduced its inaugural entry-level DJ controller, the DDJ-FLX2, following earlier announcements regarding its development. This offering is tailored for novice DJs and serves as a budget-friendly alternative, succeeding the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 launched in 2022.

The DDJ-FLX2 stands out for its impressive versatility at an accessible price point, accommodating a variety of hardware and software integrations. It is compatible with smartphones, tablets, and computers, as well as select music streaming services, including Apple Music through the Algoriddim djay app. Additionally, it supports popular DJ software such as rekordbox and Serato DJ Lite.

Among its innovative features, the Smart CFX functionality allows for the emulation of sophisticated effects with intuitive adjustments via a simple knob. The Smart Fader feature streamlines the mixing process, automatically optimizing track tempos and sound levels to facilitate smooth transitions between tracks of differing genres and tempos. As the manufacturer notes, users need only to manipulate the crossfader in one direction to achieve this seamless integration.

Connectivity-wise, the DDJ-FLX2 includes a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack for headphones, another for speakers, and a USB-C port for music source connection. Its Bluetooth capability further enhances its usability, making it a compelling addition to the AlphaTheta portfolio, particularly given its feature set relative to its price.

The AlphaTheta DDJ-FLX2 is priced at $179 USD, it is currently available from AlphaTheta selected retailers.
