2025 BMW R20 Concept
BMW reveals roadster concept motorcycle, featuring a 2,000cc Big Boxer engine and a “Hotter Than Pink” color treatment.

The BMW R20 concept was unveiled at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este show in Italy, a unique automobile event, that mainly showcases cars. The R20 stands out among the other vehicles as a central sculptural element, flaunting its Big Boxer engine and "Hotter Than Pink" color treatment.
The centerpiece of the R20 concept is the air-oil-cooled Big Boxer engine, with a 2,000 cc displacement, up from 1,802cc on the R18 models – in addition to new cylinder head covers, belt cover, and a newly designed oil cooler. The engine is massive and each cylinder juts out horizontally – BMW designers created this roadster around this engine offering a completely new black double loop frame with chrome-molybdenum steel tubes and an exposed driveshaft conceptually adopted and shortened for integration into the roadster architecture.
For suspension, the R20 concept is equipped with fully adjustable front and rear Öhlins Blackline components - in addition to radially mounted ISR brake calipers in gunmetal at the front and rear, the roadster also features a 2-into-2 exhaust with megaphone tailpipe design, crafted to accentuate the flow of the machine and the typical big boxer sound.
BMW's clear reflection of the pursuit of excellence in the realm of motorcycle design is the R20 concept's color coordination – the aluminum tank is presented in the "Hotter Than Pink" color treatment from the 1970s and the cylinder head covers, belt cover, and air intake are made of polished and anodized aluminum. The taillight is integrated into the single seat, which is upholstered with quilted black Alcantara and fine-grain leather. The LED headlight is presented in the form of a 3D-printed aluminum ring with an integrated daytime running light, with a floating main headlight in the middle of this daytime running light ring.
Alexander Buckan, Head of Design at BMW Motorrad, expressed his enthusiasm for the R20 Concept, stating, “The R20 concept is a bold interpretation of the BMW Motorrad DNA, It combines modern technical elements with a classic roadster design. Its oversized proportions and minimalistic aesthetic make it an unmistakable character.”
