Owning a Porsche 911 as a daily driver has been a long-time dream of mine since the release of Bad Boys (1995), starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. The movie featured a '94 Porsche 911 Turbo (964) with a 3.6-liter flat-six turbocharged engine boasting 355 horsepower and 384 ib-ft of torque. Although my dream hasn't manifested yet, I am a proud owner of a 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo (964) in Guard Red and a 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 (992) in Racing Yellow 1:8 scale model cars, which is my ideal two-car garage solution.

For decades, the Porsche 911 has been praised for its seamless blend of timeless design, cutting-edge performance, handling characteristics, and a wide range of customization options. With the release of the latest version of the 911 Carrera GTS, we spend an unhealthy amount of time on Porsche’s online configurator to build the perfect 'daily driver' 992.2 Carrera GTS.

Exterior Paint: Ice Grey Metallic ($830) It's a contemporary color that perfectly captures a sporty and elegant look, it is lighter in comparison to GT Silver Metallic and Vanadium Grey Metallic. Launched in 2021 on the Taycan, it feels like the perfect medium between base and special colors.

Exterior Options: For headlights, we added the HD-Matrix Design LED Headlights ($2,530) for a better driving experience at night and in rural areas, we also optioned the Electric Slide/Tilt Sunroof in Glass ($2,000), along with the Preparation for Roof Transport System ($60), Roof Transport System Main Support ($638) and finally the Bicycle Rack ($403). At the time of write, I was not able to find another system that was compatible but also reliable enough to place on top of the roof of a 911. However, I do feel that spending $1,101 USD for a roof rack is a bit much.

Wheels & Tire Package: We kept the standard 20"/21" Carrera GTS Wheels, but we changed the color from Anthracite Grey to Satin Black, a no-cost option. These wheels are made from single-piece forged alloy with center clocks and a painted Porsche Crest that is visible on the center cap.

Interior Color and Trim: For the interior, we selected Dark Night Blue leather and swapped out the standard Seats for the Power Sport Seats ($1,520), with enough support for those weekend-spirited drives and road trips along with the no-cost Rear Seats option for my 10-year-old son. For inlays and trim, we selected the 'exclusive manufaktur' option in matte carbon fiber and black instead of the standard option, it may not be worth ($840) to upgrade, but to me, it's an essential upgrade. after all, this is my daily driver remember?

Packages & Performance Options: The Porsche options list can be overwhelming, but the Premium Package ($4,600) is an easy choice with some key extras including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), lane Change Assist (LCA), Surround View with Active Parking Support, and the BOSE Surround Sound System. For performance options, we added Porsche's Active Suspension Management (PASM), it's a no-cost option, and the Front Axle Life System ($2,980) to navigate comfortable over unpredictable road conditions.

Total Cost:  $182,255 (Base Price: $164,900)

This is based on a 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS with the eight-speed PDK automatic and Sport Chrono Package. The cost reflects the Base MSRP, the equipment price ($15,360), and Delivery, Processing, and Handling Fees ($1,995). There is no manual variant available for the GTS, speculations regarding manual options for the Carrera models, have been answered, after Frank Wiesmann of Porsche Cars North America announced that the mid-cycle refresh for the standard Carrera in its Coupe, Cabriolet, Targa, and GTS forms will have a PDK-only transmission, according to The Drive. Buyers looking for a manual Porsche 911 can purchase the existing 2023-2024 Carrera S, Carrera T, Carrera 4S and GTS models.  Check out our Daily Driver Carrera GTS in the gallery above or watch this review of the Carrera GTS (992.2) in the video below.
