STONES THROW RECORDS
Stones Throw is paying tribute to the legacy of MF DOOM and Madlib by releasing special vinyl LP editions of their iconic collaboration album, Madvillainy. This includes the Demos, which are making their vinyl debut after first appearing on tape in 2008 as part of a boxed set and again in September 2013 for the first Cassette Store Day. The original mastering engineer, Dave Cooley, has returned to remaster the demos for this release, which also includes an insert with Eric Coleman’s contact sheets from the cover shoot of the album.
Along with the demos, the Audiophile Edition highlights the completed album, featuring a re-cut at 45rpm and printed on 180g vinyl. The lyrics are included on the inner gatefold of a sturdy cardboard jacket, with the record safely stored in high-quality rice paper sleeves for added protection.
Initially released in March 2004, Madvillainy is regarded as one of MF DOOM's most acclaimed works and is often cited among the greatest hip-hop albums ever produced. The album is currently available for pre-order on the Stones Throw webstore and will be shipped exclusively on Black Friday, with a wider release set for 2025.
